Roddy's passion for music ignited at the tender age of seven when he observed his cousins playing the guitar during family gatherings. Music was a constant presence in his home, as both of his parents were avid music enthusiasts. His father played the harmonica, while his mother was a pianist. Recognizing his interest, his parents enrolled him in the Toronto Conservatory of Music, where he studied for two years. He later pursued private lessons with an instructor who encouraged him to sing, emphasizing that it would enhance his tonal awareness and deepen his understanding of musical connections on the guitar. This guidance proved invaluable, as he eventually earned a modest living through his music career.
By the age of 14, Roddy had joined a band that performed at various high school dances and youth center events. Between the ages of 17 and 22, he was part of a four-member R&B band that toured extensively, playing in clubs throughout Canada. Subsequently, he collaborated with several duets, securing additional performances at clubs, lounges, weddings, and festivals. For nine years, he played in a duo that later expanded into a five-member band known as Those Guys, where he served as the lead singer, guitarist, and manager for a decade, entertaining at festivals, weddings, dinner clubs, and corporate events.
Throughout this period, Roddy also shared his knowledge by teaching guitar and vocal lessons to students ranging from ages 10 to 70. He has experience in recording his own projects and has been invited to collaborate with other artists as well. His music and collaborations have been featured on radio stations, including a notable appearance on a Muskoka, Ontario station. Roddy is a sociable individual who radiates a profound passion for music across all genres.
