Vanessa grew up in Bathurst, NB. She started piano lessons at the young age of six and then quickly added guitar and vocal lessons to her portfolio. She followed the required exams offered by the Royal Conservatory of Music and participated in the Bathurst Music Festival every year. She also took part in many choirs, music ensembles, and competitions in and out of province. At a young age, she earned various awards for her many musical pursuits.
Vanessa pursued post secondary education in 2006 at the Université de Moncton. During her studies, she worked part time at the Long & McQuade Lesson Center as a subcontractor teaching piano, voice and musical theatre. She also offered various camps and seminars. She was also a part of the University choir and other ensembles, most importantly, the University Opera in which she received lead roles in many productions showcased at the Capitol Theatre of Moncton.
In 2006, Vanessa was recruited by a theatre producer as a performer for a group based out of Edmunston. She held the lead female role for many years with L'acadie des terres et forêts en fête inc. This group travelled all around New Brunswick, Quebec and even France, giving Vanessa a great deal of stage experience.
Vanessa graduated in 2013 with a Bachelor in Education and a Bachelor in Music with a major in voice.
After graduating, Vanessa taught in public schools teaching music to children of all ages for a total of ten years. Vanessa taught everything from recorder, piano, percussions, band, ukulele and guitar, to musical theatre and choir. Vanessa taught in both English and French settings, in both New Brunswick and Nova Scotia. During this time, Vanessa directed and produced multiple musical productions including Disney Junior musicals.
